Walter O'Brien Delivers Keynote At Opal Family Office And Private Wealth Management Forum

NEWPORT, R.I., July 29, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Walter O'Brien, CEO of Scorpion Computer Services and the inspiration behind the hit CBS television series, Scorpion, was the Keynote Speaker at the Opal Financial Group's flagship event, The Family Office & Private Wealth Management Forum. The Forum has become Opal's largest family office event in the world. The conference exclusively features dialogue-driven panel discussions led by consultants and family offices.

The private wealth series event held between July 20 and July 22 at the Hyatt Regency in Newport, Rhode Island was titled "The Race for Returns." In his keynote, O'Brien informed families on how to avoid and recover from ransomware viruses and that their goal should be to keep as little as possible on their phones and laptops by using a secure, private cloud.

O'Brien suggested having two separate credit cards for the same account--one for the physical world and one for automated online payments--to reduce the odds of having to set up all the online accounts again when the physical-world card is replaced after a security breach. O'Brien also explained how to use anonymous proxies as a substitute for contact info on website domains so that a family surname doesn't get targeted.

ConciergeUp.com, the part of Scorpion Computer Services that serves the general public, reported an uptick in inquiries for consulting on protecting family assets from ransomware and for consulting to assess and reduce risk for Family Office security vulnerabilities.

The event drew attendance of over one thousand people. Also speaking at the event was Ben Rattray, founder of change.org, the 95-million member social-change platform.
